NGLS’s Gas Detection System is designed to detect any potential leaks of LPG gas in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. LPG is a highly flammable gas commonly used for cooking, heating, and other applications, so detecting leaks promptly is essential to prevent accidents and ensure safety.

The basic components of an LPG leakage detection system include:
- MQ Gas Sensors: These sensors are widely used and available in various models, each designed to detect specific gases. An MQ gas sensor reacts to the presence of LPG gas and changes its resistance, which can be measured to determine gas concentration.
- Infrared (IR) Sensors: These sensors work by detecting changes in infrared light absorption caused by the presence of gas.
- Catalytic Sensors: These sensors measure changes in heat generated by the catalytic combustion of gas.
Gas Sensor: This is the primary component responsible for detecting the presence of LPG gas in the surrounding environment. There are different types of gas sensors used, such as:
Microcontroller or Processor: The gas sensor is usually connected to a microcontroller or processor that processes the sensor’s output data. It analyzes the data and makes decisions based on predefined parameters related to gas concentration levels.
Alarm System: If the gas concentration exceeds a safe threshold, the system activates an alarm. The alarm can be an audible alarm (such as a buzzer or siren) or a visual alarm (such as LED indicators).
Shut-Off Valve: In some advanced systems, a shut-off valve can be integrated with the LPG supply line. If a leak is detected, the system automatically shuts off the gas supply to prevent further leakage.
Display Unit: Some systems have a display unit that shows the gas concentration level, providing real-time feedback to the users.
Power Supply: The system requires a stable power supply to function effectively. In some cases, backup power sources (e.g., batteries) might be used to ensure continuous operation during power outages.

The working principle of an LPG leakage detection system involves continuous monitoring of the gas concentration in the surrounding area. When a leak occurs, the gas sensor detects the increased concentration of LPG and sends a signal to the microcontroller. The microcontroller then triggers the alarm and takes necessary actions, such as shutting off the gas supply if such a feature is included.
